NCAA: +108.13
NBA: +11.38
Total: +119.51

5 – Creighton ML –133
Porter Moser is one of the worst coaches I have ever witnessed or seen in my life. Yah, it’s senior night in Normal, but the only senior getting honored is Dilligard, and he don’t get the ball as much as he should. Yah, ISU has a chance to get out of the play-in game for the MVC tournament, but in order for that to happen, they have to win tonight, Northern Iowa has to lose at Bradley, and ISU has to beat Northern Iowa this weekend. Highly friggin unlikely. They are out-matched at about every position possible. This line is cheap, and if I wasn’t losing my ass lately, you’d see a lot more on this game. ISU loses last 2 games, Porter goes on to coach Division III girls basketball, and I finally get a coach that’s worth a sh*t so I can go to the game.

2 – Wisconsin ML –123
Granted this is a lookahead spot I typically try to shy away from, BUT this Wisconsin team is full of veterans. I honestly don’t think they look ahead here. They beat Minnesota by 23 before playing OSU the first time and they already beat OSU the first time at home. Conference title at stake and a #1 seed, and a lookahead spot? Nah. Again, typically not a spot I like to look at, but when you have a team who’s big guys can not only control the boards and score in the paint but can come outside and hit the 14-16 foot shot, you can win on the road, and that’s what Wisky is doing this year. I’m not sure who has the ability to stick w/ Tucker from MSU, and Neitzel’s going to have to have the biggest game of his career to do so. I think Izzo said it best: “"You have to go beat them. They don't beat themselves very often.” Give me the veteran squad against a team that virtually has no immediate threat to score outside of a 6’0” PG that has trouble getting his shot up regardless of who’s guarding him.

2 – San Diego State +1
Have the oddsmakers gotten the memo that New Mexico CAN lose at home (already losing to BYU and Air Force), and that Giddens is OUT. Another one of those lines that’s just so puzzling I’m not sure what to say.

1 – Northern Iowa/Bradley over 138
I’m a little nervous pulling the trigger here due to Bradley’s hot shooting over the weekend, but this is a team that likes to get up and down at a fast pace. If you need further analysis, check out their games at home. A great majority hit 80, and there’s also a few 100s in there as well. I had an initial lean on Bradley here, and unsure of the line movement, but everything I’ve read is that this is more of an important game for Northern Iowa rather than Bradley. Are these people stupid? Bradley w/ an RPI of 9, just beat the CAA champ, and basically has to win out to get in and already have a better conference record? Let’s be serious, UNI could win out and move no where in the standings as far as seedings go for the conference tournament, and Bradley jumps on teams out of the gate at home.

2 – Bulls/Hawks over 188.5

Leans: UNLV, Wisconsin OVER, Spurs/Nugs UNDER, and Sonics.

Death in the family this morning, not sure I’ll be around this week, if at all. Just depends when all the events occur..

Gl..

Thx Guys.

Here is the news release from Champaign County State’s Attorney Julia Rietz in connection with additional charges filed Tuesday against Jamar Smith:

The Champaign County State’s Attorney’s Office filed charges against Jamar Smith today following the University of Illinois Police Department’s completion of the investigation of the February 12, 2007, traffic crash. Smith is charged with one count of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a class 4 felony, in that he drove a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and was involved in a motor vehicle accident that resulted in great bodily harm to Brian Carlwell, and with one count of Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident, a class 3 felony, in that he was involved in a motor vehicle accident which resulted in personal injury and failed to stop his vehicle and remain at the scene and further failed to report the accident to authorities within 30 minutes after the accident as required.

The U of I police department investigation revealed that prior to the crash on South First Street, Smith and Carlwell had been drinking tequila and beer at an apartment at College Fields Apartments on South First Street, Champaign, with others. Smith and Carlwell left in Smith’s vehicle shortly after 11:00 p.m. Smith was driving south on South First Street, lost control of his vehicle, and hit a tree on the passenger side of the vehicle. He was able to drive the vehicle back to College Fields Apartments. Two witnesses saw the damaged vehicle pull into the parking lot, and saw a tall man exit the vehicle and enter the apartment building. They also saw an unconscious passenger in the vehicle. They then saw the tall man and a second man return, approach the car, and then leave and go back into the building. The witnesses called 911 at 11:40 p.m. No other 911 calls were made. Sheriff’s deputies and U of I police arrived, and found Brian Carlwell unconscious in the car. He was removed from the vehicle and taken to Carle Hospital.

Further investigation revealed that Smith had gone to his apartment in the College Fields complex. A number of other basketball team members were in the apartment. It appears that Smith was distraught, as he believed Carlwell had died in the crash. Based on the investigation, there is no evidence that Smith had anything alcoholic to drink following the crash. At approximately 1:00 a.m., witnesses and U of I police officers located Smith and transported him to Carle Hospital, where he was treated and released. Smith submitted to blood testing. Illinois State Police lab preliminary laboratory analysis indicates that Smith’s blood alcohol content was .176

And the test was done 1-2 hours after the incident. Dayum...
