Default american to decimal

I ran across this website a few days ago. It converts american to decimal or decimal to american. Ever once in awhile there is a need to do the conversion in this grand hobby we have.

Thanks vet. Converting from american to decimal is easy, but from decimal to american not so much... This should be usefull.

As European I used to hate american odds. I couldn't understand why somebody would bother with american when there are perfectly intuitive and easy to use decimal odds Well, that was my view a long time ago. Not anymore...

When it comes to online calculators I use sometimes Scalpulator for arbs and Freeplay value calculator for free plays. Maybe someone will find them handy...

Glad I could help Ide! I go by the phylosophy KISS keep it simple stupid and that one looked about as simple as you can get. If you ever use excel this is a formula you can use.

2.00 or above use this formula

=(L32-1)*100

L32 = the decimal odds 2.00 or above.

under 2.00 use this formula

=(100/(L33-1)*-1)

L33= the decimal odds below 2.00

I like disecting numbers and that was useful at one time or another but the website I mentioned earlier seems to do the same trick. One thing good about excel is it will always be there. Who's to say that somebody might delete that website one day. Always good to have a backup! any questions on how to impliment those excel formulas feel free to ask.

it is kind of funny because.. usually the americans are just wrong. and counterintuitive. like the imperial system.. what the shit is that? metric is 23353 times more logical.

however.. i really like american odds.. it may be because i am more comfortable with them.. but i think they make more sense.. specifically with negative odds.

Another thing that I don't understand why they haven't converted to decimal is the horse racing odds in the U.S. When the odds board says 9/5 or 7/2 why don't they just put up 1.8 or 3.5. I think they have done it for 100+ years to keep the less intelligent in the dark! LOL I have occasionally thrown a bet on a horse for the past 20 years or so and if they ever do convert to decimal it would throw a old horse bettor like me off for a few days!

Thanks vet. Sometimes I use excel (actually math from openoffice), but it just takes to long to load so I prefer online calculators when they are available.

And hilbert that's true about americans, but I guess people can get used to everything. What's really fucked up - british odds or how they call it traditional :-) 5/4 7/13 3/8 WTF?!? Sure I know what they mean, but how this can be intuitive...?

I am guessing the horse racing industry originated in England and they just seemed to stick with those screwed up fractions!

You did mean 2.8 and 4.5 of course.
But no one pulled you up til now. Shows these old posts are still read.
